Description: Our Client is a well-funded, high-tech, start-up based in South County Dublin Ireland. With the launch of its first-generation product in 2021, the company is targeting a large niche global market of disease and drug research organisations that is estimated to grow to €1 billion in annual revenues within ten years. Since their formation in 2015, they have won numerous national and EU awards for their technology and business proposition. They are now seeking to grow their organisation with the recruitment an agile and hard-working Instrumentation Engineer/Scientist who has the ambition to grow their career as the company grows.

The Instrumentation Engineer/Scientist to grow its product development team, based in Dublin. Successful candidates will be operating and contributing to the ongoing development of this complex system and may be involved in the installation and commissioning of a unique product customer sites around the world. The product comprises various components and technolgies including a high-power laser, approx. 30-axis of motion with accuracy for nm to mm level, vacuum systems, X-ray optics, cryogenics and associated control systems. Candidates will require a mix of experimental, mechanical, optical, electronic and data analysis skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The position will report into the company’s CTO and the ideal candidate will be a multidisciplinary team player with a 'hands on' and dynamic attitude. The role will involve:

• Complex microscope operation
• System construction and testing
• Experimental design and set-up
• Data analysis
• Report generation
• Software testing

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be qualified to a bachelors degree level or equivalent in physics or related discipline and will have an experience level of preferably three years. Applicants will also be assessed on the basis of how well they satisfy the required knowledge and experience criteria, which are summarised as:

Required:

• Hands on system design and construction
• Optical systems design and implementation
• Optical and scientific data analysis

Desirable:

• Vacuum systems and instrumentation
• Programming, Python and/or LabView
• Lasers/Laser plasmas
