​The Client is a well-funded, high-tech, start-up based in South County Dublin Ireland. With the launch of its first-generation product the company is targeting a large niche global market of disease and drug research organisations that is estimated to grow to €1 billion in annual revenues within ten years. Since their formation, they have won numerous national and EU awards for their technology and business proposition. They are now seeking to grow their organisation with the recruitment of an Instrumentation Engineer who has the ambition to grow their career as the company grows.

They are seeking to immediately hire a Controls and Automation Engineer to join their product development team, based in Dublin. Successful candidates will be operating and contributing to the ongoing development of complex systems as part of the product development team and may be involved in the installation and commissioning of the product at customer sites around the world in the future. Candidates will require a mix of experimental, mechanical, optical, electronic and data analysis skills

 

Applicants will be qualified to a bachelor degree level or equivalent in automation engineering, electronic engineering or related discipline and will preferably have one to two years of relevant experience. Applicants will also be assessed on the basis of how well they satisfy the required knowledge and experience criteria, which are summarised as:

·        Electronics design

·        PCB design skills (Eagle/KiCAD/etc)

·        Motion control, stepper, servo (Multi-threading implementation)

·        PLC programming

·        Multiple communication protocol experience

·        Complex interface experience

·        Good problem-solving abilities

 

 

The positions will report into the company’s Hardware Controls Manager and the ideal candidate will be a multidisciplinary team player with a 'hands on' and dynamic attitude. The role will involve:

·        PLC interfacing

·        Digital Motion Control

·        Electronics design

 

In addition any exposure tp the following would be great.

·        Electronics simulation (e.g. Tina)

·        LabView

·        Python

·        Database and SQL experience

·        Experience with the CE process
