​​Great Opportunity to join a well-funded, high-tech, start-up based in South County Dublin. The company will operate in a large niche global market with a value of €1 billion in annual revenues over the next ten years. Since their formation in 2015, they have won numerous national and EU awards for their technology and their
business proposition. They are now seeking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their product development team.

 

The role will make a real contribution to the delivering of first of its kind technology developing very high precision electro-mechanical / optical assemblies in a
vacuum environment including meaningful design change as they move into the commercialisation of the product. Ideally you will have a mix of skills with a
strong foundation from first principles in solid mechanics, thermodynamics and materials.

The position will work closely with the Engineering Manager and will have a strong aptitude for mechanical design along with a capacity for engineering from first principles. Specific knowledge of designing for CE Marking / 3rd party regulatory approval is an advantage.

The role involves the analysis of problems and associated root cause analyses leading to the generation of design specifications. The design of mechanical equipment to specific requirements. The generation of calculations / analysis / test programmes and supporting documentation for designs. The creation of documentation for CE
Marking / 3rd party approval and the generation of standard operating procedures.

You hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent and ideally have 3 to 5 years’ experience in a relevant environment in the following areas:

The design of mechanical assemblies from first principles (specific emphasis is placed upon a strong understanding of Solid Mechanics, Thermal Dynamics, Materials and Vibration). Designing for manufacture. Knowledge of high-precision machining. An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Data analysis skills, Experience in automation and electro-mechanical control. Excellent 3D CAD ability e.g. SolidWorks, Creo(Pro/E), NX
