Since their formation in 2015, they have won
numerous national and EU awards for their technology and business proposition. They are now seeking to grow their organisation with the recruitment of a Senior Scientist

The product is a microscope which produces tomograms of frozen biological cells providing information on the internal structure of cells. This is critical to the understanding of disease causation and in the development of effective therapies and vaccines. At the heart of the technology is a very small laser produced plasma which produces soft X-rays and allows them to be efficiently coupled to the microscope.

The Senior Scientistwill be concentrate on the development and implementation of 3D imaging functionality and associated data collection strategies as well as characterisation of the optical and mechanical performance of the soft X-Ray microscope. In addition you will be familiar with tomographic reconstruction techniques and will also assist with general microscope data analysis.

The position will report into the company’s CTO and the ideal candidate will be a
multidisciplinary team player with a hands-on and dynamic attitude. The role
will involve: Cryogenic sample handling design, Sample drift minimisation, Illumination drift minimisation, In vacuum design and Tomography or other 3D imaging regime.

To take advantage of this great opportunity you will need to have a PhD in Physics
or Engineering (or a related discipline) and ideally five years of relevant
post-PhD experience. Excellent communication skills in English are key, as well
as expertise in complex X-ray microscope development.

The position is flexible regarding its status and can be operated on a permanent or consultancy basis.
